Besides the political shit that only seems to be getting worse. (DeSantis stole money from Medicaid and got caught doing it. So much for cleaning the swamp out.)
I just found out that NaNoWriMo ship is sinking. Which is sad because a lot of us all used to come together in the month of November to have a community and talk about writing at least once a year. I understand why we need not support that ever again but I've been tossing the idea of making a new forum to host that type of event again and maybe more of them throughout the year. Like how I was throwing around a writing community for October Writing here on dreamwdith because I missed that challenge as well. I just wonder if enough people would be interested in it? I'd make it adult-only too, just to avoid all that garbage that went down. I have just enough know-how to make a proboards forum. ^^; I really want that community back. There used to be hundreds of us on the forums before they switched to the mess they have now. I would also make a community here for the people on dreamwidth that want that here too.
I'm tossing it around in my head but I just don't want to be struggling to find the people to at least start a small group up and go from there. It's easier to start with a small group and grow instead of trying to advertise and grow big all by my lonesome self, I think it looks weird lol.
I figured proboards could handle the traffic if it got that big and you can have different areas of the forums, like the old NaNoWriMo site used to have. I'd also have a Discord to go with it besides the dreamwidth community and I'd like to have a book club of some sort running alongside it too because my irl friend was interested in making more book nerd friends. We need something positive. Out of all the nastiness in the world to exist, I want to look forward to coming together with other writers. I'm really sad NaNoWriMo can't be that option anymore.
And apparently NaNoWriMo is under a TM so uh... I'd have to call it something different but it'd still have that main challenge in it for fun too. I thought it was a fun idea to try and write a novel in under a month for the hell of it. But besides that we'd have other challenges throughout the year as well and just be supportive for writers in general.

Go for it!
>> I just wonder if enough people would be interested in it? <<
Many people have participated and probably would be interested. A general writing-event community would have a broader audience than one for a single month, or separate ones.
Also, you can promote this over on
>>And apparently NaNoWriMo is under a TM so uh... I'd have to call it something different <<
November Novel Writing Month
National Novel Wrangling Month
National Novella / Novelette Writing Month (which are shorter)
