Glove [FFXVI]
Jul. 12th, 2023 07:50 pm(And then I just say ehhhh, fuck it all in a fit of sadness.)
The wyvern suddenly jumps into the air after trying to eat Clive. Jill thinks it’s going to dive at Clive and so she readies an ice spell. However, this assumption clouds her mind and she doesn’t track it in the sky. It falls on her instead and a claw hooks into her gloved arm. She doesn’t feel the pain and it’s not until they regroup that Clive immediately grabs that arm.
“Jill, you’re bleeding.”
Jill pulls her arm back and instinctively shakes her head. “I’ll be fine. You aren’t a physicker so there isn’t much you can do for me anyways.” She has that glove on for a reason. She doesn’t want people to know or to see the weakness. The reality of what is happening to her.
But Clive doesn’t move. “I’m not a healer but from my time spent in the field I know that wound is going to fester before we return home. Please, allow me to bandage it.”
Jill stands there for a long moment with her arm cradled to her chest and her eyes cast down. It takes a minute but she does slowly put her gloved arm back towards him. Clive carefully removes the glove. “Jill…” but he doesn’t gasp, he runs a thumb over the curse marks. Jill dares a peak at his face and she can see the fear lining his face.
“Clive, please don’t worry for me. This is why I didn’t want you to see.”
Clive says nothing in return. He pulls out a clean cloth, a flask of water, and a vial before he gets started on it.
